Every chair, bench, and desk we place in a Bay Area workplace is product kept out of landfill. Liquidation and reuse are not side activities — they are how we operate.
Landfill diversion
150+ tons estimated annually
Methodology (placeholder): Estimate based on average item weights × units sold and brokered through our San Jose warehouse over a trailing twelve-month period, excluding items sent to metal recycling. BT Express will replace this figure with audited tonnage once a formal tracking process is in place. Corporate buyers may cite this estimate with the methodology note above until verified data is available.
Charity partners

Usable desks, chairs, and filing cabinets that do not fit our resale queue are directed to households and nonprofits through the Furniture Bank network.

We support veteran service-dog programs through periodic donations and community fundraising aligned with warehouse operations.

A portion of community outreach ties to Wounded Warrior Project initiatives serving injured veterans and their families.

EWG receives support as part of our broader commitment to responsible materials stewardship and community giving.
Refurbishment
Furniture arrives from Bay Area decommissions. Items are sorted for resale, donation, or recycle streams.
Mechanisms, casters, surfaces, and safety points are checked. Non-functional units are parted or recycled.
Each piece receives an excellent, good, or fair grade with photos from the warehouse floor.
Graded inventory ships to the next office, lab, or public agency — extending product life years beyond the first install.

BT Express Liquidators Inc., a women-owned furniture supplier in San Jose, California, extends the useful life of commercial office and lab furniture through inspection, condition grading, and resale to Bay Area enterprises. By sourcing pre-owned Herman Miller, Steelcase, and other commercial-grade products from local decommissions, our organization diverts usable furniture from landfill, reduces embodied carbon associated with new manufacturing, and routes non-resaleable items to charity partners where appropriate. Procurement through BT Express supports circular economy principles and local supplier-diversity objectives.
